|---|---|---|
| Giải mồ côi thụ thể | Deorphanization | Identifying the ligand for a receptor whose binding substance is unknown. About 88% of human odorant receptors remain orphans. |
| EC50 | Half-maximal effective concentration | The concentration producing half the maximal response; a measure of a ligand’s potency at a receptor. |
| Đối kháng thụ thể | Receptor antagonism | A substance binds a receptor without activating it, blocking other substances. Common in mixtures at high concentrations. |
| Hụt cộng cường độ | Sub-additivity | The intensity of a mixture is lower than the sum of its components’ intensities; about 34% in binary mixtures. |
| Metamer mùi | Olfactory metamer | Two mixtures that share no ingredient yet whose smells cannot be told apart. |
| Olfactory white | Olfactory white | The phenomenon whereby multi-component mixtures spanning the odour space widely converge on the same smell. |
| Hóa trị | Valence / pleasantness | The pleasant–unpleasant axis. About 54% of the variance is individual difference. |
| Ngưỡng phát hiện | Detection threshold | The lowest detectable concentration. Differences between people can reach tens of dilution steps. |
| Bậc trên ngưỡng | Log units above threshold | The distance from the actual concentration to the person’s own threshold; a better predictor of emotion than physical concentration. |
| Thích nghi khứu giác | Olfactory adaptation | The decline in perceived intensity with prolonged exposure; it levels off at 25–40% and does not reach zero. |
| Dây thần kinh sinh ba | Trigeminal nerve | The sensory nerve of the face and mucosa, conveying cooling, warming, spicy and pungent sensations. It does not adapt as olfaction does. |
| Chế phẩm uống | Oral preparation | An entirely different route of administration; its effects cannot be attributed to olfaction. |
| Quy kết sai | Misattribution | Attributing the result of a mixture to a molecule, of animals to humans, or of one route of administration to another. |
| Kiểm định một phía | One-tailed test | A test that assumes the direction of the effect in advance; it reaches significance more easily and should be pre-registered. |
| η²ₚ | Partial eta squared | The proportion of variance explained; η²ₚ = 0.00 means no measurable effect at all. |
Note on sources
The report is based on four sets of detailed reading notes, totalling about 4,000 lines, stored together with the database
molecules.json. Each record carries the DOI of its original source; values taken from secondary sources
or only from abstracts are flagged in place in the notes.
Some key sources could not be accessed in full text because of paywalls or because the site required browser verification; no verification mechanism was circumvented. Those points are recorded as unverified rather than filled in from memory, and the related figures are flagged in the original notes.
This report follows Volume 1 (39 studies, detailed reading notes) and Volume 2 (80 additional studies, synthesised into a systematic review of 119 studies with GRADE assessment).
Scientific reference material, not medical advice and not promotional material. All assessments of evidence quality are the compilers’ own. Figures are redrawn from published data.
