Lab
Three tools that run right in your browser and send no data anywhere. They share the same compound library as the rest of the site.
- Analysis readerPaste a GC/MS table and get back the order of evaporation, which compound dominates by threshold, and what the label must declare.
- Dilution calculatorWork out how much essential oil and solvent to weigh for a given concentration, and when the amount is too small to weigh directly and needs a stock solution.
- Formula readerSee which compounds a fragrance formula contains, which you smell first, and which dominates.
Two memories, one question
Which bottle do you smell first?
Two 10 ml bottles. Tap the one you think is stronger.
Bottle A holds 65,000 times more by mass than bottle B. But the nose does not weigh — it divides by the odour threshold, and geosmin’s threshold is fifty thousand times lower than limonene’s. The result: almost level.
That is what Baldini counted drops for without understanding, and what Grenouille never needed to understand. This tool can measure it. It can count, weigh and check — and tell you how many times over its threshold each compound is, what evaporates first, what must go on the label. It still cannot replace the nose. Knowing its limits is the reason to trust the rest.
