Lemon eucalyptus essential oil
Corymbia citriodora
Bạch đàn chanh · Myrtaceae
Lemon, stronger even than lemongrass, but the base is leaf rather than fruit peel. Picture a lemon that grows on a tree thirty metres tall.
Citronellal makes up most of the bottle, so chemically it is closer to citronella than to lemon. It fades fairly quickly and leaves a slightly hard trail.
A lemon eucalyptus leaf crushed in the hand smells almost exactly like the oil. That is rare: for most species the living plant and the distillate are some way apart, but here they match almost perfectly.
